Mistletoe - fine art print
I had to reach beyond my usual Cascadian bioregion for this one—how could I not paint a sprig of mistletoe for the holidays? My European ancestors and current relatives certainly adore this plant, especially at the winter holidays.
Its cultural history is long, stretching at least back to the Druids, and mistletoe has been associated with protection and fertility across north-western Europe for a very long time. Turtle Island/the Americas have our own species of mistletoe, but this one is the European variety. I loved seeing it growing high up in the trees, on my last visit to England. Perhaps this one will grace your entryway where it will encourage cheer—and possibly some kisses—this holiday season.
This is an open edition, archival fine art print from an original watercolor and ink illustration. Printed on heavyweight, acid-free, lightly-textured paper, made locally by Chatwin Printing of Seattle, who specialize in fine art prints. Each is signed by the artist, ready to frame. Ships rolled, in a sturdy mailing tube.
