Annie standing in her studio and smiling at the camera

illustration & hand lettering

Hi, I’m Annie Brulé (rhymes with “hooray”). I illustrate for books, magazines, museums, and all things ecology and the natural world. My home is the Pacific Northwest of the USA, and the creatures and plants of this bioregion are my kin and constant inspiration. You can find my art prints in retail shops in Seattle and Vashon Island, as well as right here on the shop page.

I’m in awe of what the world reveals to us when we slow down enough to paint and draw what we see, and I love sharing that wonder and excitement with kids and adults in classes about drawing and nature connection. I offer classes in drawing as a tool for scientific observation, and in 2024–2025 am working toward a certificate in Nature Journaling Education through the Wild Wonder Foundation. Please get in touch if you’d like to bring nature journaling (aka scientific field notes) to your classroom.

Want to see what I’m working on at the moment? Check that out here on Instagram. Want to stay in touch? Sign up for updates below—I’ll send you illustrated love notes from the studio.
